LITTLE BRAVE - CEREMONY CHIEF (LB):: We are happy the Great Spirit has found all worthy. We are here tonight to honor big and little braves, fathers and sons, pals forever.
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): First tonight, we honor those who have led our tribes the past year and those who assume the leadership responsibility. I now ask the old tribe chiefs to come to the council ring.
Tom- Tom beats until all are assembled
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): Now let the old chiefs call the new chiefs to join them in the council ring.
Tom- Tom beats until all are assembled
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): The tribal chiefs are an integral part of the federation family. Each tribe is unique as the individuals who make it one. The strength of our organization depends on each tribe, on each chief. The old chief hands the new chief an important responsibility tonight. The old chiefs have worked hard for the last year or more. The future strength of your tribe depends on the new chiefs. Lead by example. Be enthusiastic. You owe it to those who have come before you. You owe it to those owe will come after you. You owe it to your son. You owe it to yourself. Take the job with conviction. The programs’ success is in your hands. Old Chief, place the headdress onto the new chief, and repeat after me: I (Indian Name) pledge to do my best as chief, for my son, for my tribe, and for the federation. Good Luck.
3 how-hows.
New and old chiefs are asked to step back
Graduating Braves and Dads are asked to step forward
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): The passage tonight from YIG is a better sweet ceremony. The great spirit’s heart tonight soars and descends. It soars for the is proud of all you have accomplished.. It descends for he is sad to see you go. A few years ago you stood in front of a fire like tonight. You pledged to be pals forever. You listened to the story of the headband and its sacred symbols. Symbols that represent things you have lived these years as Indian guides: Father and sons through friendly service to each other, to our family, to this tribe, and to his community... seek a world pleasing to the eye of the Great Spirit.
LITTLE BRAVE - CEREMONY CHIEF (LB):: You listened then to the words of wisdom from the four winds. Let the tom-tom call on them once again tonight.
(Tom-Tom beats 3 times)
Explosion East Wind
EAST WIND(BB): As you leave, never leave the spirit of the program. As the sun rises everyday in the East, start anew with your big brave so that the relationship you have build between you will never end.
LITTLE BRAVE - WEST WIND (LB):: Let the tom-tom call the spirit of the South wind.
(Tom-Tom beats 3 times)
Explosion South Wind
SOUTH WIND(BB): As warm air blows from the south, always have a warm place in your heart for all the experiences you have shared as pals forever. Never forget the time you have shared these past many moons.
LITTLE BRAVE - SOUTH WIND (LB):: Let the tom-tom call the sprit of the North wind.
(Tom-Tom beats 3 times)
Explosion North Wind
NORTH WIND(BB): As the frigid air from the north blows in, you could always find protection from the cold in your big braves arms. You will continue to find protection and support from your big brave for the rest of your life.
LITTLE BRAVE - NORTH WIND (LB):: Let the tom-tom call the spirit of the West wind.
Tom-Tom beats 3 times)
Explosion West Wind
WEST WIND(BB): The West wind blows the storms away. Big and Little Braes have built a bond that should help you through any personal storms or problems as long as you trust and confide in each other. And just like storms, problems are never so bad when you have someone to guide and comfort you.
LITTLE BRAVE - WEST WIND (LB):: You have heard the Spirit of the winds. Heed their lessons.
Tom-Tom beats rapidly
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): Now we will again pass kernels of corn to each of you. Just as you made a sacrifice wen you came into the program, you do it again tonight, only now the roles are reversed. Big braves, tonight you sacrifice patience. As your son grows and matures he will develop interests outside the home and family. Show him patience and understanding and realize that he is no longer a little boy you have nurtured.
Little Braves, tonight you sacrifice time. Many times you friends will want you to go out at the same time your family has something planned. You must take time to nurture your relationship with your father and you family, for the most precious thing a family has is love, and you must take time with your family to make love grow. Now as a symbol of your new sacrifices to each other.... throw the kernels of corn into the fire.
Now father and son, face each other, and join hands. The young braves came into this program small and shy but have grown to be leaders of their tribes. Big braves may have come into the program with misgivings or skeptical, but tonight you leave with a heavy heart.
Most importantly, you have built a bond and strengthened a relationship that hopefully will keep you close all of your lives. With all of the turmoil and trauma in todays’ world, YIG has made you a very special and rare commodity.
LITTLE BRAVE - CEREMONY CHIEF (LB):: Little Braves...repeat after me: Pals forever Dad.
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): Big Braves.... repeat after me: Pals forever Son.
3 big How-hows.
CEREMONY CHIEF(BB): Now pass before me and receive you pin as a symbol of your years in the program
May the Great Good Spirit be with us in all things that we do and all the ways that we go.
Tom-Tom beats to end ceremony
