Campout Planning Examples
Nation Navigator Training and Orientation
The files listed below provide examples of the materials that a Nation Navigator should fax or email to a camp to establish a firm commitment for services the camp is expected to perform. (The example files are in the RTF format and can be opened in Microsoft Word or any Rich Text editor.)
Begin camp planning by telephoning the camp director about 6 weeks before the campout. Work from a checklist of discussion points. Establish an oral agreement. Gain an understanding of any issues or unresolved details.
Immediately after the initial telephone call, prepare a preliminary written plan. Fax or email it to the camp director. A few days later, make a follow-up phone call to be sure the plan was received and reviewed. Discuss open issues. Resolve them as early as possible.
About two weeks before to the campout (after camp registration has closed and expected attendance counts, cabin assignments, etc. are known) prepare a final written plan. Fax or email it to the camp director. Make a follow-up telephone call to be sure the material was received and reviewed.
