A craft project should almost always be a key activity in your tribe meetings. Craft projects encourage teamwork and sharing of skills - not only between parents and children, but also among all the tribe members. Participants may discover new interests or skills. And children gain a sense of achievement by using their own hands to create a "treasure" that may be displayed in public or in their rooms.

  1. Keep projects simple so that the child can gain a feeling of success.
  2. Have all materials ready in advance with enough for each team.
  3. Complete a sample prior to the meeting for display and timing.
  4. Arrange distribution of materials for a quick start.
  5. Plan teaching steps carefully, involving all boys/girls and parents in the process.
  6. Ensure that parents and sons/daughters work together.

Our Friends Always book describes a number of excellent craft projects. Look there first for ideas.
